Split Rail Beech Bench

My friends really look out for me. I mean, really. You can’t help but feel loved when you come home to a fresh pile of pallets that someone dropped off, or when you get a text that there is an old wooden electric spool at a friend’s work with my name alllllll over it, or when someone with a newborn lugs split rail fence pieces from bulk trash night up the sidewalk to her house for me. I could only imagine the scene as she pushed the stroller with those behemoths sticking out haphazardly from the small storage area.

After having lunch at Long Trail Brewing Company a few weeks back and ogling their log benches, I wanted to make my own version with the fence pieces from said friend and 200 year old beech planks that Uncle Bob gave me.  With multiple coats of poly and lots of sanding, I’m really happy with the end product; the beech grain is beautiful and showcased! It’s a solid piece that easily holds two people.
